UKTI Mexico recently participated in the GREEN (Global Resources Environmental and Energy Network) Expo, which is Mexico’s largest exhibition on renewable energy and environmental technologies. The event brought together companies, environmental experts, academics, government representatives and decision makers with the aim of facilitating the transition to a low carbon economy.

We had a delegation of six British companies that were part of our GREAT stand. Three of them already have offices in Mexico: Intertek, Environmental Resources Management (ERM) and Symphony Environmental, while Ultima Networks, Kingspan Wind and the Shell Foundation visited the market for the first time.

This event showcased innovative technology, products and services that can reduce energy usage, improve the efficiency of industrial processes and reduce the environmental impact of industrial and urban activities.

With the impacts of climate change already negatively affecting human society, and threatening future development and economic growth, it is crucial that the world is able to implement more efficient, cleaner and sustainable practices. The British Embassy in Mexico and UKTI have collaborated with Mexico in the development of successful climate change action plans and waste management programmes. Next week, for example, we will be part of the “Green Solutions” event, which brings the public and private sector together around business initiatives in trade, investment and technology.

We really hope that British companies and organisations, that are specialised in renewable and environmental services, will take advantage of the increasing low carbon business opportunities and come and look at the Mexican market.
